Service Manager - Cyrenians Communities
Salary: £26,468 - £29,410
Location: Edinburgh/ West Lothian
Status: 37hpw, 6 month contract (maternity over)
Cyrenians has two residential communities for young people based in Edinburgh and West Lothian. The communities provide a "living learning" environment and are comprised of young people with a background of homelessness and care, living alongside volunteers from across Europe. There is an emphasis on use of one to one keywork, independent living skills and a strong link to Cyrenians social enterprises as a means to provide training and learning opportunities for young people.
An opportunity has arisen within our residential communities' team for a temporary service manager. This position is for 6 months to provide maternity cover. We will consider applications for secondment.
You should be well organised and highly experienced in dealing with some of the challenges presented by vulnerable young people. In addition, you will have excellent interpersonal skills, a high degree of self awareness and an understanding of mediation, counselling, coaching and conflict resolution.
This exciting role involves leading and managing our residential communities through an exciting period of development as an example of best practice in turning round the lives of young people.
This post is for 6 months as maternity cover (June 2012 to Dec 2012).

Shift Coordinator
£18,910 - £21,145 plus pension

Cyrenians Good Food Programme delivers a range of food and health services designed to tackle ill health, poor nutrition and provide positive opportunities for individuals on their journey towards becoming contributing members of our communities. Our FareShare programme redistributed surplus food to homelessness and supporting projects in Edinburgh and the Lothians.
The FareShare Shift Coordinator role is a 'hands on' position with regular responsibility of depot operations which involves the redistribution of around 9 tonnes of surplus food each week. You will take responsibility for volunteer shift management and providing support to the volunteer team, many of whom are moving forward from experiencing homelessness, addictions or other issues. The role also involves liaison with Food Donors and Member Projects to ensure the efficiency of this innovative Social Enterprise.
As Shift Coordinator you will be an effective organiser with a non-judgemental and supportive approach, you will be able to quickly build mutually respectful and supportive relationships with our trainee and volunteer teams; ensuring the smooth running of the depot's daily activities.
You will possess a creative approach to problem solving allowing you to flexibly meet the demands of the role; and strong communication skills to strengthen relationships within volunteer team and with our donors and recipients.
