Successful commercial businesses are at the heart of a strong, healthy community, generating wealth and providing employment. Enlightened and successful businesses share our vision, knowing that we all win from having healthy, employable and settled communities. With the same vision and goals there is a lot to be gained by charity and business teaming up and Cyrenians has lots of experience and lots of ideas about how this is put into practice.

Edinburgh Cyrenians have a strong reputation and track record in using support from the business sector to achieve our aims. Since 1995 we have established and developed on-going relationships with businesses - large and small - operating in Edinburgh and the West Lothian. We make sure:

  • the relationship is genuinely mutual focusing activity on 'real change'
  • to engage with the company at all levels and develop a creative and happy rapport
  • to promote, through active involvement, social inclusion and an understanding of homelessness

In the coming year, we are keen to involve corporate supporters in many areas of our work through the following activities:

Corporate team challenge

Take on a team challenge with us - up to 25 people per day.

Companies including State Street, Standard Life and GE Capital have all been involved in 'Corporate Challenge' events with the Edinburgh Cyrenians.

These challenges provide new, improved facilities to the people we work with and also enable your team to experience a real challenge and work alongside people who have experienced homelessness.

By working together everyone enjoys meeting new people with different life experience.

Past challenges have included:

  • Building a 20m poly tunnel to grow strawberries at our farm
  • Transforming an old milking parlour into a fully functioning gym at the Cyrenian Farm Community
  • Painting a depot to be used as the headquarters for the FareShare project - a food redistribution scheme
  • Redecorating the lounge at the Cyrenian City Community

Companies are asked, as far as possible, to fundraise to cover the costs of the equipment and resources needed too complete the challenge. We will generate media coverage to ensure both the charity and company receive positive publicity for the event.
